Billy Ritchie, goalkeeper, was born in Newtongrange in 1936. He moved to Addiewell in 1937, with his mother, father (a policeman) and older brother George. Billy played for local Juvenile Seafield,then juniors Bathgate Thistle, from where he signed for Glasgow Rangers in 1955.
He played for Rangers until 1967. He went to Partick Thistle in 1967-1970. Motherwell 1970-1976. Stranraer 1976--1980.
Billy got one cap for Scotland in 1962.
He settled in Livingston when he retired from football where he opened the first shop in the new town.
