Do you have a date this article appeared in the Midlothian Advertiser, as I would like to try and get a copy of it. I have a head-shot from the Glasgow Evening Times and he was my great-grand-uncle. I have researched his story from birth to death and inherited his medals and letters. Would appreciate all information about David. Thanks.

Hello Hazel,

I didn't see your posts and it's only by chance I spotted them tonight, this is the full text from my book,

In loving memory of 6410 Pte David Marjoribanks 1st Btn Cameron Highlanders, who died 14th December, 1914 aged 35 years.  Remembered with honour Chauny Communal Cemetery British Extension.  CWGC

Marjoribanks - Pte David Marjoribanks, killed in action at the Battle of Ypres, aged 35 years.

Inserted by his sister, Mrs Potter, 8 Cross Street, Addiewell.

Midlothian Advertiser 20th November, 1914.

An Addiewell Soldier Killed – (Photo) Information has reached Addiewell of the death of Pte David Marjoribanks of the Cameron Highlanders.  Deceased was born in Addiewell, and was a son of the late William Marjoribanks, Livingstone Street, but he has been away from Addiewell for some time.  He enlisted in the Cameron Highlanders, and did eight years of active service, and four in the Reserve.  He had only one month of his time to complete when the war broke out and he was called to the colours.  He was with the Cameron’s’ in some of the hardest fighting of the war.  Deceased has three sisters resident in Addiewell and much sympathy will be felt for them in their sad bereavement.

Midlothian Advertiser 20th November, 1914.

I'll gladly give you a copy of the book if you want it.  I've the full book on West Calder, and I extracted all the Loganlea, Addiewell and Muirhall and put them separately. My email is meg.stenhouse@btinternet.com.  It's my husband who's the Stenhouse from the Borders, Kelso and Kirk Yetholm, they seemed to have been there from the dark ages..  cheers .. Meg
